GROW IN MIND

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Something Happens Here (October 20)

Historically, you could typecast a Methodist as a Christian obsessed with singing, social justice, and the sacraments. Whether that feels foreign or familiar, it’s a connection worth pressing: What does Holy Communion have to do with politics? How does our worship relate to the hard work of justice? Does our prayer at the Lord’s Table help us make sense of our polarizing culture? This Fall, join us for a six-week study of Wesley’s communion spirituality through Stephen P. West’s Something Happens Here. We will consider the sacramental heart of Methodism and how that strengthens us in divisive times. Let’s discover where sacraments and social justice collide.

    GUM Kitchen 101 (October 20)

Do you use the GUM kitchen for your event(s) during the year?  Do you know how to use the GUM stove/oven or commercial dishwasher?  Did you know that the fan has a winter and summer setting? Would you like to use the kitchen but do not know what is available? We have the workshop for you!  Our experts, Jeri, Bev, Carol, and Cheryl have put together some general kitchen procedures that will help keep our kitchen in good working order.  Come to learn the organization of our fabulous kitchen, ask questions, and familiarize yourself with new signage.  We would APPRECIATE THE ATTENDANCE of at LEAST ONE PERSON from each group that uses the kitchen.

The Art of Living and Dying Well (October 27 and November 3)

Just as we move through many stages in our lives, our faith development also goes through stages as we mature in our understanding and commitment to discipleship.  In The Art of Living Well, we will consider the first stage of getting our lives together, and the second stage of giving our lives away.  In the Art of Dying Well, we will discuss how there is still a role for discipleship in the later years of life.  In this final stage, rather than clinging to life as it has always been, we offer our character, presence, encouragement and example to those we will leave behind. Please join us as we explore these aspects of our faith journey.
