Did you know that your extravagant generosity allows the GUMchurch Missions Team to support 16 organizations near and far that are serving as the hands and feet of Jesus?
Over the next few months, your missions team will be highlighting these organizations by providing information on the impact our support empowers them to make!
This month, check out Red Bird, Hand 2 Hand, and Fairfield Children’s Home:
Red Bird Mission and Clinic is located in Beverly, Kentucky and have been providing ministries in this region of the Appalachian Mountains since 1921. Mark and Rebecca Smallwood came to the Mission in 1988 to serve as teachers during its first full year as a private Christian school. Mark directs the vocal and instrumental music programs for the elementary, middle school and high school students. Rebecca teaches Elementary Christian Education. Their outreach ministries expect to serve over 9,000 persons this year. The Red Bird school is educating and encouraging service-mindedness in over 200 students. 38 local, national and international students are nurtured within their dorms. Mark and Rebecca are also involved in helping local artisans market their arts and crafts, supplying them with much needed additional income. Our annual contribution to the Smallwoods is $2,500.
Hand 2 Hand is a local food program providing weekend meals comprised of 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 snacks and 2 drink items to students (elementary, middle and high school) who are food insecure.
The 2015-2016 school year was GUMchurch’s first year for this partnership. We fed 19 Hudsonville High School students using donations of food from the congregation and Hungry for Christ and financial donations from you! We are excited about this opportunity to impact our community and looking forward to the next school year.
Fairfield Children’s Home (formerly known as Babyfold) is located in Mutare Zimbabwe Africa. This mission focuses on very young orphaned children, providing them with a loving Christian family setting. To date, we have contributed $950 to their cause.
