Ministry Shares

What are Ministry Shares?

The United Methodist Church is a connectional church. It was created to connect God’s people so that we might, “Create Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.” The UMC  intentionally formed relationships by creating districts and area conferences. This, in turn, has created a larger faith community capable of reaching out in mission and ministry around the world. Using our shared gifts, we are able to support lay and clergy mission, ministry, education and outreach around the world in extraordinary ways that no individual or local church would be able to otherwise accomplish. Individually, we are weak, but collectively we are a powerful church.

The United Methodist churches in the West Michigan Annual Conference (and all other conferences) are asked to pay a portion of their annual receipts to their conference and, in turn, to the global UMC to support worldwide, life-changing ministry.
