What is Intentional Faith Development?
Intentional Faith Development refers to all the ministries that help us grow in faith outside of weekly worship, such as bible studies, Sunday School classes, support groups, and prayer teams. In practicing Intentional Faith Development, GUMchurch offers opportunities for people at all stages of faith to learn in and with community. The vision of GUMchurch calls us to actively live the example of Jesus. Therefore learning, growing, and acting on faith is as important as having faith.
GUMchurch offers ministries that help people grow in grace and in the knowledge and love of God. Intentional refers to deliberate effort, purposeful action, and high priority.

Journey Groups: Adult Small Groups
We believe that growing our faith and becoming disciples of Jesus is a journey best taken with friends who can help us and encourage us along the way. Like the first journey group of Jesus’ 12 disciples, we all experience God in different ways and have many insights to share with others.
A Journey Group is 8-10 people who commit to 8 weeks of walking the faith journey together, learning how to express their faith to each other and learning how to see God in every part of life. It is a safe and confidential place to listen to each other, pray for each other and “watch over one another in love”.
***NEW JOURNEY GROUPS FORM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE FOR MORE INFO***
A Ministry Team is a small group of Jesus followers with complementary skills, who are committed to common purposes, performance goals, and approaches for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. These teams work together, break bread together, and, of course, have fun together! Doing ministry in teams has shown to be effective not only at accomplishing the team goals, but also in nurturing a strong sense of community. Some teams have long-term goals and work together for extended time periods, others have a short-term goal and the team moves on once the goal is accomplished.
